Fall, 2004: Vermont Images    Page 1013C
Wednesday, October 13 - A full day taking pictures!  Sunny, 60's, trying to cover as much ground in one day as possible.  Images from [location classified], perhaps Vermont's only "Alaskan" river valley, an example of a newly created ecosystem after the draining of a lake. Apologies for the secrecy - it is already attracting too many locals, some of whom are leaving a mess.  The area is really only a few miles long and somewhat fragile.

Our local "mystery" valley, looking south. It used to be a fair-size lake, now there are actually sandy beaches and, apparently, fish, although I wouldn't drink the water.
Swim, I suppose. Purity, of course, depends on what is upstream.

The low bluffs above the stream are covered with tall grasses of a kind I have not seen elsewhere in the state. Although I have not seen any, I understand the area is frequented by moose and deer.

Looking North along the stream. Great for wading on a hot July day, but not in October.
